M3: Assassin's Knot (Patlin judging)

Eanos raises an eyebrow. "Does anyone have a way to open this short of breaking it apart? Might do for us to have a look before it gets too late. If we're leaving it alone, we should probably see if there's not a way to block it; who knows what sort of mischief the folks using this and whatever tunnel's connencted to it might be up to."

Tenebrynn (still NPCed) says, "I didn't think to check for magic. I did move my bed over to place a leg on top of the opening. It would difficult to open it like that, though not impossible."

Rinaldo takes a moment and inspect the trap. He looks for a way to open it from this side... "Why a Inn would have trap door in every room?"

"Well, Nurlan is back. I'll go and see what he is doing, and trying to invite him" Rinaldo leaves the room and goes back to the main one.

Eanos sits back, trusting Rinaldo to gather their comrades.

"I suppose it's possible the Inn had a previous use that the doors come from, but you'd think, then, the Inn owner would mention a thing like that to tourists. They always go in for 'this used to be a...' places."

Rinaldo walks up to Nurlan. "Sorry sir, you are the artist of yesterday. I see I miss you again. That's sad. I would have liked to see you perform. Are you going to rest? I wouldn't want to disturb you, but I would like to speak a bit with you. You see, I have three kids at home, and I've promised to come back with a good story, but I have heard none since I left. You might know a few good ones that I could tell to my children. I even willing to pay you if the story is good enough. What do you think. Maybe my friends would be willing to hear it too. Do you mind?"

"Why certainly," says Nurlan. "Mordik, let's go with this gentleman."

Once they are in the room and the door closed, he says, "Perhaps I could tell you a story about the golden-stringed lute I saw today, and how it came to be missing a string."

"No, I don't think an inn owner would go around telling his prospective guests '... that is why every room has a trap door, ideal for assassination, espionage, planting false evidence, and other such activities.' Depending on what the in was, if it wasn't always an inn, even the mention of its former function may lead to the conclusion that the trap doors exist. No, I am certain the inn was built as one, with the trapdoors for illicit activities. Whether the current owner uses them is an entirely different question.
I am afraid I have no spells prepared or in my spellbook to open the trap door.
"
Ashnar tries to whisper to be on the safe side, and gets his papers and inkpen out.

Nurlan gives a start at hearing the talk of trap doors. "I was about to give you an account of what I learned today, but it sounds like you have learned quite a bit too that I am eager to hear."
