Nicholas Cage as John "BOOM" Madden. You don't need to put a thin man in a fat suit to make the movie. There are plenty of actors that are naturally sized to play Madden, and they'll be better at it. I could probably do a better job as an untrained, never acted actor. This is just a teaser, so there's not much to go on. I think he deserves better than this. Even today, John Madden is looked at as a legend by fans, coaches, and players.

He's an Academy Award winning actor. Just because he usually chooses to take off the wall roles doesn't mean he isn't capable of bringing his A-game when required.

I don’t know who or what a Madden is, but that trailer looked OK. I generally like Nic Cage. Then again it looks like the film is about American Football so I doubt I’d have the faintest idea what was going on.

The skinny is John Madden grew up playing American football, went on to coach a professional team, and had a career as an announcer. He was quirky and had a lovable personality that endeared him to Americans. I'd expect the movie to be more about him than American Football.

Some highlights of John Madden. He wasn't for everyone. His long time co-announcer Pat Summerall couldn't stand him IIRC. Another thing that made him stand out was that he didn't fly. He traveled in his own bus.


Every video I try to use is blocked by the NFL. This one though might be worth going to YouTube to see.

Plus he came up with a 6 legged turkey for the Thanksgiving broadcasts. I think he really liked drumsticks.
