Magic against intelligent items

First Post
So my character is an enchanter. And in our game we have come across a few cursed intelligent items. Now from what I understand these items have a mind of their own, and if they do couldnt I use a spell like Dominate Monster on it? Iv looked around but havent found anything. If anyone has any ideas I would be greatly appreciative.

Yes you can.

SRD:

Dominate Monster
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Sor/Wiz 9
Target: One creature
This spell functions like dominate person, except that the spell is not restricted by creature type.

Intelligent Items
Magic items sometimes have intelligence of their own. Magically imbued with sentience, these items think and feel the same way characters do and should be treated as NPCs. Intelligent items have extra abilities and sometimes extraordinary powers and special purposes. Only permanent magic items (as opposed to single-use items or those with charges) can be intelligent. (This means that potions, scrolls, and wands, among other items, are never intelligent.) In general, less than 1% of magic items have intelligence.

Intelligent items can actually be considered creatures because they have Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. Treat them as constructs. Intelligent items often have the ability to illuminate their surroundings at will (as magic weapons do); many cannot see otherwise.

So what would determine the items saves.

SRD:

Damaging Magic Items
A magic item doesn’t need to make a saving throw unless it is unattended, it is specifically targeted by the effect, or its wielder rolls a natural 1 on his save. Magic items should always get a saving throw against spells that might deal damage to them— even against attacks from which a nonmagical item would normally get no chance to save. Magic items use the same saving throw bonus for all saves, no matter what the type (Fortitude, Reflex, or Will). A magic item’s saving throw bonus equals 2 + one-half its caster level (round down). The only exceptions to this are intelligent magic items, which make Will saves based on their own Wisdom scores.

And would the power of the creator effect these things?

All you have to do is to follow the Dominate Person/Monster rules.

Whenever the creator commands the dominated item to do something, it is as if the Domination spell forces the item to take actions against it's nature. Therefore it get's a new save with a +2 bonus.

SRD:

Subjects resist this control, and any subject forced to take actions against its nature receives a new saving throw with a +2 bonus.

If the item succeeds on it's save, follow the Intelligent Item Rules to resolve how the item behaves in respect to it's creator, as normal (Ego etc.)

Actually, I'm pretty sure Dominate Monster, etc, will not function on intelligent weapons.
Since it says they should be treated like construct, they'd also have construct immunities:

Dominate Monster is part of the Compulsions subschool, to which constructs are immune.

Correct!!!!!

Forgot all about the construct traits even though I highlighted them!!!! (How stupid of me!)

Thanx for the reminder!;)

Ok since we have more or less confirmed dominate monster will infact not work, is there anything, magic, psionics that could say sever the link between the item and its creator or hep you bend its will?

Well, other than things with Dedicated powers, it's mostly just the Ego check for dominance, when it comes down to practicality. And that's a Will save. Boost your Will save through the roof, then come up with a way to avoid the autofail on a 1 clause (luck blade for the 1/day reroll, or perhaps the Pride domain {and you can get the Pride domain power via Planar Touchstone [Cataloges of Enlightenment<Pride>]} to reroll all 1's on saves).
