Magic availibility and Magic shops

Magic shops????

You mean people actually have magic shops in campaigns? If I want magic shops I will play a computer game... Magic in my campaigns are hard to get and when you do, you do not part with them........ very very rarely will a pc find anything to purchase... maybe a trade... but rare and far and few in between....

Wow, you guys put a lot of work into this stuff....

One of the 'cool' things of 3e is the mathematical consistency.

One of the bummers of 3e is the perceived need that everything is mathematically consistent.

I often have shops that may have some magic for sale. But it just has available what I feel like allowing them to get. I have no need to pre-determine what is there. If they want, they ask, if I want them to have it, it is there, if not "No magic for you"

.

As for security, if the maker of the items is also selling them, I wouldn't want to mess with a high level caster. If they are just middle men then security will be just as important as mundane items. Besides if you have the capital for magic items I am sure you can afford security.
