Magic item size

I'm pretty sure that I've read in the DMG that magic items changed their size to fit their wearer.

Does this also apply to magic weapons and armors ?

Thanks !

I thought that only applied to rings.

Edit: Here we go.

SIZE AND MAGIC ITEMS
When an article of magic clothing or jewelry is discovered, most of the time size shouldn’t be an issue. Many magic garments are made to be easily adjustable, or they adjust themselves magically to the wearer. Size should not keep characters of various kinds from using magic items.

There may be rare exceptions, especially with racial specific items.

Armor and Weapon Sizes: Armor and weapons that are found at random have a 30% chance of being Small (01–30), a 60% chance of being Medium (31–90), and a 10% chance of being any other size (91–100).
Looks like clothing and jewelry (read: rings) will adjust. Weapons and armor will not.

It's meant to apply to pretty much everything - boots, necklaces, etc.

It's even suggested that it should apply to armor. There's cautionary text in the DMG about making magical armor that doesn't resize / would only fit a specific race. Something about, "a particularly xenophobic clan of elves might create magical armor which would only fit an elf or a creature with a similar build, but this should be the exception and not the rule."

EDIT: The above text probably refers to the situation where the armor is medium-sized, but will not fit a dwarf.

I came to the same conclusion.

Too bad the party won't be able to use the loot from the next Large bad guy ;)

Thanks.

Usually armor and weapons dont resize unless made to, seems perfectly logical that a greatsword made for a gnome would be the same size if a troll wielded it.

What makes you think armor won't resize?
The 3.0 DMG says [p.176] "When an article of magic clothing, jewelry, or armor is discovered, most of the time size shouldn't be an issue...." In 3.5, the quote is changed to [p.213] "When an article of magic clothing or jewelry is discovered, most of the time size shouldn't be an issue...." Furthermore the 3.5 DMG adds a section on the size of discovered armour and weapons. This suggests that the designers intended for magic armour and weapons not to resize in 3.5.

Personally, I think this is rather silly. The reasoning in that section, that size differences should not be a penalty in play, applies just as much to armour and weapons as to other items. The new situation brings about exactly that penalty, in a misguided attempt to add a dose of "realism" to an inherently unrealistic world where you have Small, Medium and (possibly) Large characters running around. My solution to this awkward problem is to ban all non-Medium-sized PC races. Thank you.
