Magic Resistance

OK, I know a character has to willingly lower their magic resistance for other spells to affect them without needing to beat it. Do they have to do that on their turn? And it lasts 1 round right? And, do they have to lower their magic resistance for their own spells? For example, does a cleric have to lower his magic resistance for his own heal spells?

Thanks

We just figure that when a character with SR in the group needs healing, that he or she voluntarily lowers it. There's no argument or having to roll SR. But then we're a bit loose on this as it'd benefit the character. :)

Spell Resistance never interferes with your own spells. He does, however, have to spend a standard action to lower his SR on his own turn, and it lasts for 1 round, so if he wants to keep it down, he needs to keep spending actions.

Yeah, but if that character isn't spending standard actions to lower it, then you're being waaay too nice.
