Magical Candies?

Has anyone written a feat for the creation of magical candies. I had an idea for doing it myself but there is no sense reinventing the wheel so to speak so I thought I would see if it had been done yet.

If not I was going to make it almost identical to magical potions, excepting the candies could be placed in the mouth and activated at the desire of the user (1-6 rounds after placing them in the mouth) as a free action.

Hm. My first thought is that any ingestible magic might as well be called a potion.

I'd note that being able to set it up a few rounds beforehand, and have a choice as to exactly when the effect begins is a notable improvement over normal potions. So you might want to make them more pricey.

Check out Tome and Blood. Specifically the Candle Caster PrC. It gives rules for making candles and apply metamagic feats to them.

I had thought about that option. If I went with the candy = fancy potion option then I would also have to require a Craft check skill for Craft (candy) for each successful candy creation.

It just seemed though that if the candy would have slightly different properties from the potion then it might oughta require a different feat. In the end its mostly flavor I realize, but I liked the idea of someone savoring a candy in their mouth slower or faster in order to get the magic to release slower or faster. What penalties might offset the delay + free action capabilities of magical candies?

The way I would invision such an item would be a hard candy outside with a potion filling (they have candies that are liquid on the inside). You would put one in your mouth and when you want to ingest the potion you simply bite down on the candy shattering the outside and drinking the contents. The problem would be that after X rounds the hard candy would dissolve and you would have to drink the potion regardless of if you wanted to then or not.

Either that or the magic is enfused into the candy in such a way that you must physically have swallowed enough of it for it to start working. Either way, crunching the candy into bits is the fast way to get it activated. As I was thinking of it this morning pictures of tootsie pops kept entering my mind for some reason :D

I like this idea but would have the cost 1.5 X greater, I mean a rogue with an invis candy *pops* one and tries to backstab an opponet, then withdraws and bites the candy-invisible...I like that scenario.

Call 'em Jolly Rangers instead of Jolly Ranchers

:p
