Need I state the obvious about the Ranger?

Well, I'll say it:

It's a long shot, but there's still a chance they'll make the playoffs.

not that I care about hockey. seeing a bunch of overpaid jocks hit a rubber disc across a big sheet of indoor ice with curved sticks is not my idea of a good time, but that's just me.

I much more prefer...FULL-CONTACT CROQUET!!!!

So if 3e is Win 95, I guess we'll have to wait for 5e before we something in the way of a stable game! :D

Let's see :
Basic D&D = DOS
1st Editon = Windows 3.1
2nd Edition = Windows 95
3rd Edition = Windows 98
3.5 = Windows 98SE (IMO Best Windows Op out there)

God forbid that 4th ever come out. It would be heap crud if the comparison to Windows ME holds up.

Then 5th Edition will spy on you and force you to buy a new book every time you buy more than 3 sets of dice.

Geez, That was geeky

Can someone fill me in on the Great Cleave + Whirlwind Attack + Bucket of Snails thing? I've heard it mentioned, but I have no idea what it is.

I almost hate dredging it up, Ramathalis, but ... Character carries around a bucket of Fine snails. When in melee with a particularly nasty opponent, dump out the bucket-with creatures that small, there can be hundreds of them within five feet. Now-Whirlwind attack! You get one attack against each snail. Any snail you hit and drop (not too hard-they only have one hit point) gives you a Great Cleave against the big bad enemy. Voila! This gives you hundreds of attacks in that round! Woo-hoo! Plus, the DM knocks you unconscious with his Big Foam Cluebat™!
