Making Crossbow's Useful

As I'm watching both Trigun and Cowboy Bebop currently I'm in a serious pistol state of mind. But as I dislike bringing such into a D&D game, I was looking for some help.

I know they are out there, but my memory is currently on hiatus. Aren't there some enchantments for crossbows such as repeating or quick loading or some such?

I know there is a repeating crossbow in the PHB, but I'm looking for ways to make hand crossbows more effective. Any ideas?

Edit: Ok. Found Quick-Loading in MoF (I love that book, regardless of what anyone might say about it, if it's useful and interesting, I most likely read it there. It's my most often used supplement), very useful, though not quite the look I'm looking for...

There'sa really cool fighting style in Quint Fighter for heavy crossbows. Obviously, there's the Quick Reload feat in Sword and Fist. I think there's a magical version of that in Magic of Faurun.

Thanks Crothian. :)

Eagleshaft. Very nice. Culminates in the ability to armor pierce with heavy crossbows. The ranged disarm thing is a nice visual too. Especially with the number of guns I've seen shot out of hands in my recent viewing enjoyment. :)

Rapid Reload can only be used once per round, so has limited lifespan.

Still looking for more hand crossbow ideas.

Dunno if anyone's done a version of it, but Terry Pratchett has stealth-crossbows in his books. Basically, they're one-shot tubes with a bolt in them, which you can hide in a sleeve; by flexing your wrist just so, you can fire the bolt at someone. Excellent for assassins; excellent when poisoned; highly illegal.

You could also try to convice a short-of-cash Gnome Artificer to sell you a special made crossbow.
LOL! I was just thinking of that picture (again, I love MoF). Thanks AGGEMAM.

Unfortunately Artificer items have charges and none of their abilities are particularly applicable to crossbows (upping damage, reload speed, or range). Though being able to tag on an electric jolt to each shot would be fun. :)

There are wrist crossbows in sword and fist similar to that. Flex your wrist, get a one shot bolt. Easily concealed if you happen to have big sleeves. :)

Would make a cool back up weapon (and for those of you who have seen Trigun you know how important that can be). :)

I know they are cheesy, but I dig repeating crossbows. Can you lower yourself to using one of those? ;)

Lower? I'm the guy with the one level of Spelldancer who is metamagicking 6x empowered endurances and persistent divine powers on his character. :) Don't worry about lower. :D

It's the aesthetic though, I don't want a two fisted crossbow. While I like the pump action to load the next bolt, I really am in a revolver kinda mood and am looking for some kind of existing enchantment/weapon modification that I can twist around the description of until it is a six-shooter hand crossbow. :)
