Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis watches the last rat fall, then bends down and tries to wipe his still glowing rapier clean. He looks at the body in front of him and shrugs, puzzled. "I've never seen rats get to this size before..."

[sblock=ooc]Dane's hit ought to kill the last one, so I won't bother attacking.

I am wondering why you had me attack before, though. I didn't ready an action like Dane did... and I'm not completely sure of the rules, but I didn't think that situation allowed me an attack of opportunity. We didn't even roll initiative, so I'm not completely sure what was going on.

Anyways, I guess should probably add a sblock for stats now that I need to keep track of my HP.[/sblock]

Recap/Reward Post

[sblock=ooc] Yep totally my blunder, as I was rolling Dane's AoO I went and rolled an attack for Reis. I just could not stop rolling since IC was up. LOL :p

I wasn't going to use it but seeing as how the rats hit, I tried to find a kool way to use the rolls. You technically didn't attack, the creature impaled itself on your blade. Let me try a recap rules wise B-)

Surprise round: Dane takes a 5' step and ready action, Reis moves (behind Dane) Rats attack from hiding- (Dane's AoO kills one) two remaining rats attack and hit

Round 1: Dane kills a second rat (nice work should have made this an EL2), Reis "kills" last rat, Midias double moves into the room (down ladder/ then over beside Dane), Viktor moves (down ladder) move action (draw weapon)-- Combat Over :hmm: [/sblock]

[sblock=Experience]
3 dire rats EL1 = 300xp
4 party members = 300/4 = 75xp each [/sblock]

Standing among the old refuse and garbage everyone notices the door in the far wall is slightly ajar. There is no trash around the door inducating that it must open inward. This door must have been used to keep people (and dire rats) out a long time ago.

The smell gets no better as the group stands amidst it, the light from the raiper flashing in and out as Reis cleans the weapon quickly.

In IC under campaign you may put "MotM" instead of writing it all out.

What do you wish to do now? [/sblock]

Reis sighs, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "Much as I hate to stay here any longer, we probably ought to look around quickly, just in case we find any signs that someone passed through here..."

With that, he quickly goes to work, shifting piles of debris with his rapier and his boots as he undertakes a quick search of the room.

1d20+3=10

[sblock=ooc]Ugh, all my search rolls this adventure have been awful... anyone else want to try, or should we move out?

HolyMan - thanks for the recap. It's not a problem, I just thought I must have been missing something, since I don't know the rules all that well yet.

HUZZAH!! WD

I don't know what to do excatly, but I guess you should submit your level ups to get them approved. When they are I will have the powers of Hyrag flow into her humble servant. :lol: [/sblock]

The light on the rapier starts to dim as the group searches through the old junk and refuse. Nothing comes of the search except catching the smell of the old cesspit on you.

[sblock=door]
Standard wooden door that opens into the room. No debri sits in front of the slightly ajar door. Light source to end in 6 mins. What next? [/sblock]

Reis throws up his hands and walks towards the door, saying mostly to himself "Nothing here, I suppose..." He reaches the door and peers through the opening.

He looks back at the rest of the party and holds up his glowing rapier doubtfully. "Should we go on? I'm not sure how much longer the light will last." He ponders this for a few seconds, then adds "I've got flint and steel in my pack, but no torches to burn..." and glances around.

[sblock=ooc]Hmm... is there anything in the debris of the room that Reis could burn as a torch?

Also, level 2 here as well! You think we should try to get our characters updated now, or wait until this adventure is over?[/sblock]

Congrats Errandir on level 2 (guess I will need to make future encounters tougher). Reis sees a long tunnel going straight off into the dark. It is about 5' wide and close to 8' tall. the whole thing seems made of bricks that are on the floor and the walls which curve in towards each other to form a peaked ceiling.

There is enough debri to make 8 torches, you need to tell me how many you wish to make as making the first one will take most of the light from the raiper then a lit torch can be used while you make others but the question is how many do you want to make.[/sblock]

Midias

[sblock=ooc]I'm not quite sure, but I think our judge Manzanita has to ok the XP reward before we may level up. Can be wrong here[/sblock]

"Don't fear the darkness. I carry some sunrods with me. But I would prefer them to be used by someone else, as I need my shield hand." Midias offers.
