Many Shot Question

First Post
As a level 9 ranger, I have base attack bonus of +9/+4 wiht rapid shot and many shot. The question that my group is arguing is this;

Per Round, Do I take:

1) 3 shots of 2 arrows each?
2) 1 Shot of 2 arrows, and 2 shots of 1 arrow?
3) 1 Shot fo 2 Arrows, or 3 shots of 1 arrow?

Any hyelp you can give us is appreciated.

thanks.

Welcome to the boards! :)

Manyshot is a standard action while Rapid Shot is a full-round action. You can either as a standard action fire two arrows (At a +5 bonus - +9 BAB, -4 Manyshot penalty - both arrows use the same roll), or as a full-round action fire three arrows (+7/+7/+2 - BAB +9, -2 Rapid Shot penalty). The choice of which to use depends on how much time you have. With a standard action you can still fit in a move, while for a full-round action you're limited to a 5 ft step only.

Manyshot also doesn't work with Shot on the Run either. In fact it's fairly useless except as a prereq for imp rapid shot.

Where can I find the writeup of this feat? I've never heard of *Improved Rapid Shot*

Manyshot is good for times when you only have a standard action - like surprise rounds - and for times in which you really need to move around.

If you don't need to move, then a full attack will almost always be better.

Why not? Don't you considering shooting multiple arrows an "attack action with a ranged weapon"?

Even if you rule that you canno manyshot with shot on the run, manyshot is far from useless. You can use it in the surprise round, in any round where you have to draw your bow (and don't have quickdraw), perform a fighting retreat, and probably the best option: Ready to Manyshot a spellcaster.

It isn't. Manyshot is a specific standard action. Shot on the Run uses the Attack action, which is a different, specific standard action.

Nope. Manyshot is it's own distinct standard action. Kind of like how using Whirlwind attack is a full action that makes many melee attacks, but is distictly different from using the full attack action.

IIRC, you can still use Manyshot with Flyby Attack, though, as Flyby Attack specifically gives you a standard action.

Edit: What Patryn said.
