Manyshot + Rapid Shot

Simple question, does Manyshot "stack" with Rapid Shot?
For example, do you get 4 arrows when you Rapid Shot? If so, at what negative modifier to hit? Is my math correct? (Assume all Dex + Base Attack + etc modifiers taken into account.) Manyshot seems to have a few disadvantages to Rapid Shot, but I dont see ANY advantage over Rapid Shot other than it's a Standard action...

Manyshot is a standard action, meaning that it
  • cannot be used with rapid shot (full round action)
  • can be used while moving, or other move actions

Many consider it a feat not worth taking, unless you're a ranger who gets it for free, in which case it is nice, and usable from time to time.
 

The value depends on the situation, of course. Sometimes, multiple arrows on a single shot are very helpful.

At BAB +6 to +10, the trade-off is all about being able to shoot and move; the regular Full Attack is likely to hit only on the first attack, and Rapid Shot is unlikely to hit on the last -- while Manyshot is taking a chance on all-or-nothing, but also gets to move.

At BAB +11 and above, though, the progressive penalties of Rapid Shot and regular Full Attack no longer outweigh the hefty penalty of Manyshot. This is more obvious at BAB 16+. Against creatures with low ACs and lots of hit points, the archer who can peg it with 3 or 4 arrows with fair certainty AND MOVE is better off than one who can stand still and be less certain of landing as many arrows.

An attack action is a form of standard action. You can use Many Shot with Shot on the Run. You cannot use Many Shot with the Full Attack action; you must use Rapid Shot with the Full Attack action; you cannot therefore use Many Shot and Rapid Shot at the same time.

Wierd, I use it all the time and think it is extremely valuable. I guess I find myself needing to move (or draw my bow, or stand up, etc. etc.) more than most people.
 


Manyshot is not an attack action (it's a standard action) and therefore cannot be used with Shot on the Run (officially).
