No, I already had all of them on my hard drive, along with hundreds more.

I love maps. I use them with every session. I hand them out and I put them on my DM screen. But why would I want these maps, when the ones I've downloaded as jpg or gif files can be photoshopped?

Generally I write my own adventures in a Word document. So when I need a map or some other image, I photoshop it to add text or other elements, then insert it as an image, which I size correctly. Then I give a blank one to my players. So the ones printed in a book are useless to me, unless I go to the trouble to scan them. And in this case, why would I do that, since I've already got them in the format I want?

I haven't looked inside the shrink-wrapped folio. I'm sure the maps are physically beautiful, and of a higher quality than my printer could produce. That still wouldn't make them useful to me.

It supprises me that people will pay for stuff like this. I have used a couple of the web based maps for some adventures I have put together, but personally I would not part with hard earned cash for generic maps.

Different strokes I guess.

Actually, I'm constantly amazed at what I will buy, period. I bought this product, and like another commentor, I got this folio because it was cheaper than printing it myself in full color, but the product didn't "wow" me like a folio of brand new maps would. Actually, I got this because I was hoping it would be a bit like the old 2nd edition map folios they did (or even the 1st edition "Encounter books"), simple story seeds could have been printed on the back sides of each map, some ideas for jumpstarting a weary brain-dead DM with no time to prepare for the evening's session. No such luck, but they are still nice, pretty maps.

The thing about a product like this is that, for people like myself who like actually picking up something in the flesh, holding a real product, it's kind of nice. Heck, I'd buy a book which featured all the web articles and material that WOTC has thrown on their site over the years, for that matter. It's just cleaner and more convenient than a bunch of loose-leaf printed sheets which I have to organize.

All in all, I've bought many products which were more useless, and not as pretty, as this folio. But I'm still not as excited about it as I could have been. :\

I find it's one of the least interesting products WotC is putting out this year.
So, did you get it? Will you get it? Will you avoid it?
I own all the maps, already - for free. Absolutely I'll avoid it.

Map Folio

Just another example how Wizards is out-of-touch with my gaming needs. If they stick to this type of product, they will go the way of TSR with their Dragon Dice.

I voted no, though I could change my mind. It's a cheap enough product It might sway me on an inpulse buy.

It's not a product that says to me 'gotta have it'. It is probably very nice, and I understand people who buy it. I'd probably just spend my $10 elsewhere, though.
