Marked By Destiny, Marked by Tragedy Part 2 (No Judge Yet)

I'm curious as to everyone's spot, listen, disable device, hide, and move silently checks, too, since we have an abundance of rogues here.
Weapon can be heard when standing still, and could not see a fire before his face if it hid. His hands were made for grasping weapons, not fine manipulation. He is not popular with the ladies.

As you get up to the dead end, you can see that the passage ends in an abrupt vertical shaft. Brelach notices a badly hidden vial of alchemists fire fastened above the shaft. It seems to be held in place by a cantrip of some sort, and he is able to disable the makeshift trap simply by taking the vial.

The shaft itself is steep, and looks like it will be a difficult climb, even if the party uses a rope.

(OOC: Sweet, that saves us the effort of taking 20 here...and since we found one trap, now we know that there actually is someone down here trapping, so we should be wary)

"Careful--if there's a trap on this chokepoint, that probably means that someone down there has decided that this will be the perfect place for an ambush, and so it would, like when the Merlock Gnomes were fighting with Professor Voliarty on the edge of the waterfall. Of course, it's worth noting that if they have some way to see in the dark, they can see us by our light, and we can't see them..."

Weapon looks down the hole the best he can, trying to determine its depth. "I have rope and can assist others climbing."

Further examination of the shaft downward reveals it to be damp and slippery.

[sblock=ooc]I'm having trouble picturing a shaft where you can't get at least the "Climbing a corner where you can brace against perpendicular walls (reduces DC by 5)." modifier, and the notes say it's a DC 15 climb check to get down, so I'm throwing in the slippery modifier to make it come out the way it was originally written. This also assumes you don't take the time to knot the rope, of course...[/sblock]

Rope is already knotted (see his sheet).

Noted. Got to be hellishly bulky to carry around that way, though. I take it that it's 50' before being knotted, and thus 25'?

No mentioned I have every found in the rules discuss the length post knotting. That's your call. I have it as 50', knotted but only bought 50' (and it has been treated as such length previously). Ultimately, your call.
