Marks

Do marks go away when a character becomes unconscious? And of so, where does it say that? :)

An example: Last night the party paladin marked a goblin archer, but the paladin went down midway through the round. Is the mark still active as long as the paladin is adjacent to the goblin?

I'd say the mark goes away. The paladin is no longer a threat to the goblin.

The weirdness for me comes from the power text itself:

"To engage the target, you must either attack it or end your turn adjacent to it."

By this definition provided in the description of the power being KO next to your marked foe counts as "engaging."

I think. :)

*sigh* yes, by the literal definition they give, I suppose that's accurate. Common sense says the opposite. No one is engaging in any way when they are unconscious.

I also think the intent of the marking mechanic makes it clear that if you fall unconscious your marks should go away. The mark is basically you harassing your target, or making it dangerous to attack anyone but you. If you are unconscious, you can't be a threat anymore, so your mark goes away. Like Nebulous said.

Yeah, common sense says it goes away, but common sense doesn't always win out at the gaming table. The interesting question will be to see if this gets updated for the RPGA where it could really get out of hand.
