Martial Power and Draconomicon I are in stores

One of my players has informed me that our local chain bookstore has continued its tradition of ignoring street dates for D&D books, had them on shelves, bought them on my behalf, and my copies will be waiting for me when I show up for game tonight.

Just putting the word out.

Slowly making their way onto shelves around here. I was at the Borders inside Westfield's SF Shopping Center and I saw both on the shelf. I flipped through both. I'd have to say they are my favorite 4e supplements so far, and both out on the same day. Very nice!

Very impressed with the Draconomicon art, much of which gets a full page devoted to it. For DMs who who like using dragons (and honestly, who doesn't?) I think this will be a must-have accessory. At first glance it felt lighter on fluff than the 3e draconomicon, but even so it is probably the most fluff-heavy 4e book published so far outside of the FR Campaign Setting. At $39 I couldn't justify picking it up though. Maybe if I'd had one of those blasted 30% coupons they love sending me... but I was fresh out.

Martial Power has been detailed extensively in another thread already, but my impressions of it were good as well. And the cover is just beautiful. It really jumps out at you.

Huh.. thanks for the tip. I might check out my local chain on the way home.

Was it Borders, like Zulithe said they saw them at?

A person I know in the retail books industry told me that generally unless its something like a Harry Potter novel, most of those places just put things on the shelves as soon as they arrive off the trucks.
Don't they risk getting sued? Maybe it's not worth the trouble to Hasbro.

lol Your experience contrasts with mine: My experience at a busy nearby Chapters location last year was that books would be listed as "In stock", but weren't able to be found on the shelf; the explanation I received was that it hadn't been unpacked yet (late in the evening) even though I'd been told the stock arrived two days before. It wasn't Christmas time. I attributed it to "unmotivated" employees, and wouldn't you know it, I was shopping in the hippy-district of Edmonton. :p
