Marvel and DC lose their specious trademark on the term Super Hero

In all honesty, it was never clear to me how two companies that are competitors could have a joint trademark the way Marvel and DC did.

Then again, I'm not an IP lawyer, so maybe that's nothing unusual. 🤷‍♂️

They may be competitors, but they seem to be pretty much friendly ones. (Marvel often refers to DC as their "Distinguished Competition.") They frequently had crossovers between their two companies' comics, and often had the same creators working for both. I could definitely see them "teaming up" to share the superhero term between themselves but keep all the other comic companies out of their club.
