Quoted for massive disagreement. You want to know why some women don't read comics? You want to know why some women have these crazy ideas about comics being sexist and stupid?

I know, she's not Batgirl. She's not supposed to be competent or deadly or dangerous. But washing the costume while barefoot, with the visible thong and the pearl necklace? C'mon.

You shrug this off, you've got no right to complain when people start slinging about comics-reader stereotypes.
I hereby forfeit my right to give a darn about people who want to condemn me for enjoying tintilation.

Mary's washing a costume while wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Should she not wash clothes? Or should she be wearing some sort battle uniform while doing so?

The problem with Mary Jane is that she doesn't actually do anything that you can depict in a cool way. Lois Lane is an investigative reporter, so she can at least be shown running after some hot news item.

I have to say, at 41 years old, MJ has aged very well. :)

Edit: actually, that's how long it's been since her debut. I have no idea how old she was when they started. 17? 18? So that would make her, what, almost 60? Dang!

gee I guess they never saw the swim suit issues ;) :

No kidding. The simple fact of the matter is that MJ has always been depicted as a model. Models in the vein that MJ is a model are attractive and seductive. Therefore the statue should reflect this.

This is really a non-issue.

Back when we finally decided to allow off topic posts, we stressed that OT posts might be closed for any reason at any time. This is a spectacular example of why that's probably a good idea.

Klunk.
