Master of the Unseen Hand, How can I become one?

Hi,

I was looking at the CW PrC Master of the UnseenHand. It seems like a neat class to take levels in if your a SoulKnife or Psychic Warrior (think jedi telekinetic attacks :D )

Anyways, the requirements for this PrC is:
-Concentration 8 ranks
-Ability to use Telekinesis (either cast it, or have ability) :\

Now.. Telekinesis is a level 5 for arcane casters and Level ~3 for Psion (uh.. can't find it actually... using Telekinetic Maneuver  ...). So this pretty much rules the PrC out for a SoulKnife or Psychic Warrior.

The only way I found around this is to pick your race as Githyanki (+2 LA). This race gives you Telekinesis 3/day when you get to 9th level. But +2 LA is really steep... if your a front line fighter, you need those hit-dice...

So I guess my question is:
-Does anyone know a race/creature that give Telekinesis as a racial ability for less then +2 LA?
or
-Does anyone know another way to get into the Master of the Unseen Hand PrC if your a melee class?

Thanks!

Ask the DM to give your soulknife/psychic warrior telekinesis instead of some other ability (but not before 10th class level). I know I would allow it.

Get a Ring of TK, and don't lose it.

Haha :) thats an interesting Original answer that I was not expecting. But I don't think that would be a good idea. It's to easy for the (RatBastard) DM to screw you out of all your MotUH class levels :D

So there are no creatures that get innate Telekinesis with ECL lower then +2? :(

It looks like the XPH split telekinesis into three separate powers: telekinetic force (P/W 3), telekinetic maneuver (P/W 4) and telekinetic thrust (P/W 3). I would require a psionic character to know all three powers before he could take levels in Master of the Unseen Hand.

In theory, a psychic warrior could use the Expanded Knowledge feat three times to learn these powers (doing so by 14th level), but the concept is cool enough that as a house rule I'd allow a single feat to add these three powers to the psychic warrior list of powers known (so he could learn all of them by 10th level).

Alternatively, a Ranger 4/Psion 1/Illithid Slayer 7 (Illithid Slayer has good BAB) could also know all three powers and start taking levels in Master of the Unseen Hand. You could mix and match any other base class with good BAB for the Ranger, but you'll have to take Track as a feat if you don't have any Ranger levels.

I think Githyanki is still your best bet - as long as you're using the one prior to the XPH (which only get 1/2 HD as manifester level, and only get telekinetic thrust). The advantage githyanki have is that each MotUH level adds two to their manifester level for telekinesis, due to the improved caster level ability, and their telekinesis caster level being based off of character level. However, it's probably better to go with fighter (or any other full BAB class) as a gith, rather than with psychic warrior or soulknife, so that may not be the flavor your looking for.

A Pre-XPH Githyanki Ranger/fighter/paladin/whatever 9/Master of the Unseen Hand 5 (ECL 16) has a caster level 19 for Telekineses - which is your BAB for any telekinetic special manuevers, as well as fighting with a telekinetically wielded weapon. The trouble with this build is MAD - you need strength if you want to do melee combat, charisma for telekineses, and constitution to offset the +2LA and the d4 HD from master of the unseen hand. But it does make you very versatile with telekinesis.

If you use the Githyanki stuff in Dungeon 100, you can imbrove your other SLAs as well - getting displacement or greater invisibility (and the quicken SLA to go with it) to improve survivability. In addition, the Sweeping Blade Mastery style described there gives a jedi-like ability to deflect arrows with a long bladed weapon.

The only other races I could find that gave Telekinesis are ghosts, beholders, and various outsiders - all way above LA +2.

Otherwise, I would go with the suggestions above and allow a psionic character with the various Telekinesis powers to take the class.

p.s. the other option I see is doing a fighter/wizard build -Fighter 1/sorceror 6/Eldritch Knight5/master of the unseen hand5. You could take practiced spellcaster to offset caster level loss, and at level 17 have a telekineses caster level of 19 (assuming practiced spellcaster will offset MotUH levels, which don't grant spellcasting). This isn't quite as good as the githyanki in some ways - less hitpoints and BAB, but a broader range of spells, and you can use things like arcane strike, which would be really effective with full attack telekinesis and telekinetic wielder.
