We put an unabashedly matrix-y class in the European Commonwealth chamber book (the intruder), so I know for a fact our playtesters have being doing some Matrix games :p. Ozing style at 1st level, dodging bullets around level 7, and an "Epiphany" at level 10 :D.

I love you....no I worship you! Any timeline to expect this ambrosia of the gods?

I expect it on the shelves in under 6 weeks. Keep in mind if you are playing d20 Modern (rather than Spycraft) that a Spycraft prestige class is pretty butch power level-wise, and should remain a prestige class in d20M, not an advanced class - you may want to up the requirements to get in. You'll also need to add a Reputation bonus progression and do a quick check of the class skill list.

The Intruder's ability "Bullet Time" lets you make a limited number of Ref saves for half damage against first melee/unarmed attacks and later against ranged/firearms, so if you can pick up evasion on your way in, you're golden for pulling some "you move like an agent" moments :).

As for the other class abilities...?
Let me just say: Free your mind :D.

(Hi, butting in here - I was the developer for the classes on this book).

It's a PrC. The core class is the spin doctor - favors, fame and all around badness with a wink and a grin. I can't *wait* for this book to hit!

Believe me neither can I ,I love d20 modern and was just talking to my friend from my group about how cool it would be to play a matrix or matrix-like rpg,the very night before morg made his post.

After giving this a little thought i find that coming up with the mechanics for a game like this already exist. This is how I see it:

1. I think being in the matrix would be very similair to traveling the planes. Thought controls much of your actions. Depending where you are, like the plane of air, up is were you wnat it to be. So you can "fly".

2. On limbo you can shape your surroundins by thought.

ok so how do you make it all work for d20 mod. Easy make a new skill up. Knowledge Matrix. The more points that a player puts into this skill the easier they can do things. Eventually some things become second nature.

So you'd make up a chart similar to the Knowledge spellcraft chart with things that your character would be able to do. lets take the jump. You've got say 5 points in Knowledge Matrix and a +2 from int. You make your check and roll an 8 say. so you get a 15. You consult your chart and blam you jump check is modified by plus 10 sayt. Other ablilities you could add are: You can run on walls for short periods of time as long as you finish the round on the ground (similar to the PSI feat), Fly (at high lvl), all the sort of things that you've seen in the movie. Neo is special so he is off the chart.

Just a thought

I rather like the idea of a "Reality Rewrite" skill. Ideally, there would be a chart of things that different DC's could accomplish, but all of the abilites would be slightly impossible, yet minor in scope. Running up walls for short times, adding a couple of points to Defense to represent "just dodging" attacks, very dififcult leaps no more than 15 to 20 feet in height, etc. All these things would be from results of up to DC 25 or 30.

Then you have the "NEO" types and Agents who can COMPLETELY ALTER the landscape, jump into bodies, completely avoid point blank shots, stop bullets midair, etc. For them I could see an advanced class for it, with skill bonuses by level that would let them accomplish the outrageous stuff.

Neo being an extream case though. He is the chosen one. He should be above and beyond what others can do. Over all I think that it is a very easy setting to work with.
