Maximizing Save DC's

But by the time you have 7th lvl slots to Heighten Charm Person in, you have switched out Charm Person for Charm Monster or Dominate Person.
Which is why my example used heightened Charm Monster (a 4th level spell).

I'm just saying that Heighten Spell helps a sorcerer retain versatility- he can still reasonably expect to get some bang from his lower level spells if he needs it.

Hence my second sentence. OTOH, are you getting enough use/versatility out of Hightened Low Level Spell X to justify the spell known, feat slot and higher level slot to use it?

IMO, there are situations where it would be useful. Just not enough of them to justify the cost.

YMMV.

The point is, that you don't need to upgrade some spells and therefore can get a much broader selection through the use of Heighten Spell.

Spellcasting prodigy still does, though, doesn't it?

Nope.

Spellcasting Prodigy is pretty much useless now.

Wierd. I know it was widely predicted that it wouldn't, but it was one of the first things I checked when I got the PGtF, and I could have sworn it still did.

Apparently, I just can't read!

SP still grants +2 to caster stat, but only to derive bonus spells.

Basically the same as Extra Spell now (just that it scales somewhat and you have to waste your prescious 1st level feat on it).

Ah well, I took it primarily for the extra slots anyway.

BTW, shouldn't that be Extra Slot?
