MD-DC-VA Gaming Day Thoughts and Opinions

That's 3:10, then?

Awesome. I can't tell you how cool that is. Just from those I spoke to, the diversity of games seemed to be a defining characteristic, and I hope that diversity stays as we do more.

Although, I think that's the last (and first :) ) time I'll run a two-part game. I want to get in on some of that diversity!

I'm not picky when it comes to room choice, I liked the intimacy of the smaller rooms, but I liked the social atmosphere of the ballroom. I was able to get over to the boardgames and have a look around, so it was good that the two rooms were close. I wouldn't like to have rooms too seperate from each other. Not that it's currently an issue with TerpCon, but I've seen other cons get spread all over, and it can be a pain.

All in all, I think these gamedays are going great, and can't wait for the next one!

I want to thank Rodrigo again for the great and timely help of his Tact-Tiles. \m/

Xath, you did a great job, and it's much appreciated.

:)

Well, for my first gaming con, I had an absolute utter blast. My players were fantastic, and I had a lot of fun. Definitely coming back next time.

Now, with regards to one or two rooms? Please please PLEASE make it one room. I never even got a chance to LOOK at the boardgame room, and I kinda would have liked to try some of it. I'm also in the camp of wanting more socialization. I showed up around noon (car trouble) and felt kinda... alone for a while. That changed once the afternoon games started happening, but I think that if I could have hung around the other room instead of feeling obligated to stay in the RPG room... well, I probably SHOULD have just walked over anyway, but the wall of seperation was powerfully symbolic, and I just couldn't get around that in my head.

The variety seemed good to me. When my game was over (Paranoia games don't last as long as other games) I got to wander the room and look over shoulders, and what I saw thrilled me. So many good games I've never played before.

And of course, the guy giving the Capes demo completely hooked me. Now I need to see if I can convince my group to give it a shot once or twice...

Sounds like folks had a good time!

Sorry I missed this one :\ ...

Hope to make the next one...and I have a "date request" for the next scheduling. I formally propose Sat, 10/22 for the October date. No home or away Terp Football game (Thur night ESPN game vs. Virginia Tech that week).

Of course, the reason for my proposal is purely selfish...I will be busy every other weekend that month and I can't miss two MD-VA-DC Game Days in a row!

So, what exactly IS Capes? I saw the guy sitting there at an empty table for a while, then next time I looked up from my game there were 6-8 people there looking like they were having a really good time. I never got to go see what the deal was, as our game ran a little long.

Sorry, my bag! ;) Here's a pdf demo of Capes, Rich.

Just wanted to say thanks to all my players for sticking with it past the quit time, and for being enthusiastic, friendly, and willing to come together as a group (rather than everyone just playing their own PC to "win."). I had a fantastic time, and I think the scenario went pretty well considering it was a "dry run." I'm definitely going to be back in October. All in all, it was a blast. The looks on your faces when the huge iridescent semitransparent wasp flew out of Luke's face...! Priceless!

As for the room, I thought it was quite loud at times, but I'm not sure what could be done about that. The sound level was just due to people getting "into" the role-playing. How can you fault that?

See you in October!

Oh, I've got no problems with the game running over. I was having a blast playing "The Rottweiler"!

I'm really enjoying the heck out of these. Thanks to Xath for organizing and to those that donated the raffle prizes. Also, kudos to Threshel for an awesome game of Mutants and Masterminds. Any time you can squish Nazi's with a thrown tank, you know you're having fun.

Dammit! I am definately comming to the Oct one.

And a later start time might be good, even for those of us in the beltway.
