sorry for being off topic...

i find it funny that you decide to attack the people who chose a modern pop-culture refrence. i personally have no recolection of the A-team... i was alive when it was on, but i was soo young that i left the room when my parents watched it. you dont see me attacking the person who brought up the A-team as well as Angel. in a way, by not attacking every show mentioned in this thread, you are promoting those shows that U arent attacking.

while i personally like buffy/angel, i am more than able to let U hate it. the reason why most buffy/angel fans are so rabid in thier devotion to the show (at least in my experience), is from constantly having to defend it from attacks by people who have not seen it.

i will agree that it was not right to discuss the diffrence of oppinion about any character, regardless of show or time or book or movie they come from on a thread about the overall system, but the easiest way to get a point across is with examples based on common ground. now on a board that gets as many views as this one does, common ground for everyone is impossible ('sept for DnD). if you dont understand the refrence (ie, buffy, angel), ignore it and look for a refrence U do get (farscape, A-team, Stargate, whatever) and leave those of us that do understand it alone.

Horror is more of a mindset then anything. I think having players that feel they have powerful characters works well in a horror game. I like the players to at first be comfortible before they realize just how bad it all is.

I agree. Can you imagine playing in an Aliens game with weak characters? I mean, it's still likely to be a total party kill even with powerful characters

That's a very good example. The marines in Aliens where bad asses pure and simple. Yet, they all die. I think allowing the PCs to think they are tough, and then realizing their abilities don't matter is a great experience and if done well the feeling of helplessness which is key in horror is great.
