Meaning of 'Listed Price'

The SRD states that a large weapon's price is doubled from the listed price. Does this mean that a large weapon made out of some special material (say, cold iron) only has its listed price in the weapons section doubled, or should the material cost of the cold iron also increase?

Since there is no specification as to what order that price modification are to be done, the favorable calculation should be used.

In every other case I can think of, if an order is not specified, you can do things in whatever order. This is true of applying templates, applying Practiced Caster to wild magic, and so forth.

Generally, yes - though I have seen DMs who refuse the interaction of Practiced Spellcaster with wild magic.

Mainly the problem comes from the fact that the object now weighs twice as much, so there must be more raw material involved.

Actually, if the weapon has moved up a size category, its weight would be increased by a factor of 8, no?

If a creature moves up a size category, yes. But a weapon?

Weight

This column gives the weight of a Medium version of the weapon. Halve this number for Small weapons and double it for Large weapons.

Since dozens of people have come and gone without adding to this thread, I must assume that people agree that believability should take a back seat to expedient pricing.

Thanks.

Assume nothing. Many people won't post honestly out of fear of their large PCs paying the fair price on thier armor and weapons.

I say double the whole amount. A larger weapon uses double the material and a larger armor has well over double the surface area.

Is that a rule, or are you just stating your intuition there?
Looks like intuition, though in fairness the rules should be clearer.

Logically I would double the entire price, since double the special material is now being used to make the weapon. However logic and D&D don't always go together.
