D&D 4E Mearls on 4E being computer game: "It's more like online poker."

I wonder why they didn't yet release their D&D theme poker cards.
Who cares about MMOrpgs? Poker is the the cash flows. Smart guys.
I just wonder wich class will represent the Queen card...

Future supplement books will feature game variations such as 5-PC draw, where you get to swap out your PCs once during each encounter, and Texas Grapple 'Em. where you get to take two actions of your own, but then everyone must do the same actions drawn by the DM for the remainder of the encounter.

It's like poker because the feats in 4e can only be gained by buying random packs from collectible feat card decks. (And poker like... also has cards.)

1. Playing D&D Online: There's a natural reaction to see this as similar to Warcraft and other MMOs, but I think that's a mistake. A better analogy might be online poker.

Except that online poker does not charge a monthly subscription fee. MMOs like WOW do.

We should hold a contest to see who can construct the most ridiculous, overblown hyperventilating misinterpretation of what he's said. The misinterpretation must, of course, proclaim doom and gloom about 4th edition.

Bonus points for the adding the terms "anime", "video game" and "dungeonpunk"

Wow, so does my phone company. D&D Insider is trying to be a phone company!

Hey, that's not bad. I'll be able to play whenever I'm near a phone. You think there are complaints about cell phone use now. Wait until people are playing D&D while driving down the freeway!
