D&D 4E Mearls on 4E being computer game: "It's more like online poker."

Isn't DDinsider something akin to both myspace and NWN ? That's what, 10 years of delay ? I'm not exactly impressed by the 8x8 isometric room with the troll. Does that means that 4e is all about dungeoncrawling vintage crypts and old style sewers ?

So you have no friends scattered around the country, or who live at least far enough away that they can't make a session on a regular basis? Playing online with strangers isn't the draw for me; it's the possibility of gaming with guys I gamed with 25+ years ago who live 2500 miles away.
Actually, one of my group of 5 is currently living in China for the forseeable future.

Yet I still have no real interest in 4E, or online D&D. If my wayward friend still wanted in on our games, It' be pretty easy with MSN, VoN, Teamspeak, webcam or whatever.

I think it's a nice option to have, though, but it's just not enough to get me psyched about yet another rules overhaul/book dump.

And that's the thing...you don't have to.

Sorry, but that is not how I am interpretting this digital bullcrap. It seems you will need this Insider subscription thing to get errata and updates to the core rules in order to play the game. No print version at all and if you don't have the subscription you are screwed.

I haven't gotten that impression at all. Any direct quotes, especially about the errata? I'd be extremely surprised if the errata wasn't posted for free.

I am interpreting your comments as a direct physical threat to my life and the life of my family.
I am contacting the police.

If you can make stuff up so can I.

Oh, that's rich, considering I can now never have a print version of the electronic 'Dungeon' or 'Dragon'.
Funny, I see a mention of being able to print right there.

Sure, its all initially online, but it looks to me that we'll be free to make our own hard copies.

It "seems"... so you are actually getting nervous for nothing.
The errata will still be free for all, the same with updates. They want everyone to be playing their game all the time. Not because they are nice, but because know it is good for business.

I am going to play DnD it will be in a group, offline, around a table. I do not, will not game online.

Really? Great! You and also 99% of the gamers that have a local group. But what about people that doesn't have a local group, people like myself, that has friends scattered? What Am I'm gonna do? huh? Can you step outside of your little world and answer me that? please?
