Mega-Adventure Prelude--Tenebrynn's Revel

Valan nabs a glass of his own off of the passing waiters tray. He raises it to toast whatever we are toasting. Well Tor? Truth, lies or none of my buisness?

"Hmm? Sorry, what was the question? I must not have heard you in the general commotion."

Once Tor understands what he's being asked, he frowns.

"It's not exactly a secret, but I also don't generally mention it... lots of people have strange ideas about my Grandfather's people. My father is adopted, of course, and not the naturally born son of my Grandfather. The relationship has shaped my father, and through him it has to a limited extent shaped me. Perhaps as I get older, that heritage will show more... I've been having a tingling feeling in my skin for the last few weeks, and that might be a sign of change."

He asks a random partygoer, "Excuse me, why do we present the host's generous drinks?"
Jace answers, "That's simple enough, it's called a 'toast', though I'm not sure why it's called that. Basicaly, it's a way of honoring our host, or whoever you're 'toasting'. It also indicates goodwill and well-wishing. I'm not sure about the source of the custom, only that it is and what it means in this context."

Devlin joins in the general toast to their host, then continues to meander around the room, politely listening in on the several conversations taking place.

Fimbus greets Devlin as he walks by. "Ah, Mr. Magruder, good to see you again! This is my friend Babette, she was with me when we... eh, discovered the gems." The gnome turns to look at Babette and winks. "Oh, and this is Rikitiki, my newly named weasel familiar," Fimbus says as Rikitiki returns to him.

Sir Nurlan leans in and says quietly to the two of them:
[sblock=Listen DC 18 if you are nearby]I had the good fortune to meet Tor's grandfather. They asked that I not tell of his nature. But now, you say, rumour is getting around Orussus already? I shall not speak publicly of it if Tor wishes, although if word is getting around, soon few will doubt it. I do believe you are taking on draconic features, outwardly as well as inwardly. Your skin is not as smooth as I remember when I first met you."[/sblock]

Ashmodai - Maenad Lvl 1 Wilder

Looks to Lokin quizzically and deftly moves away from Lokin as he sees him nearly trip up a guest"woah woah woah, that coulda hurt especially if you accidentally get that thing through my leg!!" he grins and points to the sword.

He scratches his chin ponderously, then pats the back of his neck "Well there was this one time I... and then another when I almost...." he then slumps and sighs "No I haven't been on anything you could call an adventure. I enjoy exploring caves... though that's mostlyl for a good nights rest. I hope to hone my skills as an adventurer though, explore this great land."

He looks up and smiles."You definitely seem to know what you're talking about Lokin. You must enjoy the adventurers life?"

Ash then quickly falls silent, and holds up his glass"Here Here"

Quozen beams. "Thank you, kind sir. It is a good custom."

He then bows to Jace. "Please, let me introduce myself. I am Quozen Ilphukiir, of the Monastic Order of the Nightingale. I must say, the riches of these lands is unfathomable to me, and our host has shown impeccable taste and generosity. What brings you to this event?"

"You met my Grandfather? I visited when I heard he was looking for me, but I didn't wind up following his advice. Where did you meet him?"

Lokin pauses as the toast is made and listens to the fine song with enjoyment despite the lack of comprehension. Afterwards, he turns back to Ash.

"Enjoy my life as an adventurer, you said? Well, if you enjoy being hacked at by evil creatures in the dark and hiding in a dank hole until you return to consciousness after severe blood loss, it's the best. It's interesting, though, I'll give you that."

He finishes his fine elvish wine with gulp, wincing slightly at the unfamiliar taste.

"Beats army life, though."

ooc: By the way, did Nurlan accept the 30 gp Ironwolf offered to do PR songs for Hulgyr? If so, I'll update my character sheet.
