Mega-Adventure Prelude--Tenebrynn's Revel

"You met my Grandfather? I visited when I heard he was looking for me, but I didn't wind up following his advice. Where did you meet him?"

Tor's memory is weak -- Tor himself introduced us, after M2 finished.

ooc: By the way, did Nurlan accept the 30 gp Ironwolf offered to do PR songs for Hulgyr? If so, I'll update my character sheet.

Nurlan promised to dedicate his future performances of The Gentle Orc to Hulgyr, but not to write new songs. Does that count for Ironwolf? He's more a collector than a songwriter. The dedication is something he'll do whether or not he gets paid for it, although he will accept the gift if offered.

"What brings you to this event?"
Jace relpies, "Our host, Tenebrynn, walked into the Red Dragon Inn with an open invitation. I was a little bored, so I joined everyone at the party. Like yourself, I don't know many of the people in attendance, so I'm just standing at the side, enjoying the festivities.
Tell me, do you enjoy the song? It has a wonderful melody, but I don't understand most of the lyrics. I do keep hearing references to freinds or friendship, and I'd guess the song speaks well of it
."

ooc: Ouch! Patlin's memory is weak, but I can't see how Tor could have possibly forgotten that! I was thinking another DM might have used the character on one of Nurlan's adventures and was curious. Perhaps this alternate response would be better:

"Indeed. Grandfather apparently decided that events were taking a course where he should take personal action in spreading word and warning, even at the risk of his own privacy."

ooc2: Ironwolf gave Nurlan the 30 gold, having faith that the bard will do what he can.

Nurlan's expression turns from merriment to concern. "Warning? Of what?"

Which Nurlan would have accepted with graciousness and thanks.

"He wasn't very specific, even with me. I get the impression that forces of evil long dormant are stirring. He may very well have meant that a number of evil dragons are once more flying in the skies above us.... I heard a small group of them are terrorizing some of the Medibarian cities. I get the feeling, though, that there is something more.:

Maladar tries to forget that he made a complete fool of himself earlier. Maybe the wine was stronger than he had imagined. To himself, "Thinking some brute of an orc was trying to eat people, umph. I really need to take it easy on this wine." Hearing a toast going up he raises his glass and takes a small sip. A beautiful song starts playing which he remembers from his childhood. His grandfather used to play this song during the summer festivities. As the song finishes he gently wipes a tear from his eyes. He starts walking through the crowd to shake the memories from the song.

"Indeed it does," the dusky elf begins. Quozen turns to face Nurlan, letting the melody wash over him. "It extols the beauty in the wind that blows between two friends, the power of many uniting. The forest does not need any one tree, it needs them all, and as each tree grows strong, the forest endures."

He turns back to Jace. "I must confess, I find it strange to hear talk of forests in my native tongue. I come from the Lands of Fire, where there is more sand and basalt than water and trees. We say that each kindness is like a drink of water, and a long friendship is a river. How about yourself? From where come you?"

Jace answers, "Here, there. I spent much of my life traveling from town to town, city to city, looking for a purpose, a sense of completion or belonging. All I found was good, decent folks hearing the same rhetoric.

I like your analogy of friendship . . . poetic. It's a nugget of wisdom that should be readily shared. What other insights hide behind those green eyes of yours
?"

Fimbus greets Devlin as he walks by. "Ah, Mr. Magruder, good to see you again! This is my friend Babette, she was with me when we... eh, discovered the gems." The gnome turns to look at Babette and winks. "Oh, and this is Rikitiki, my newly named weasel familiar," Fimbus says as Rikitiki returns to him.
Devlin admires the weasel for a second and then offers his hand to Babette with a smile. "A pleasure, m'lady. I'm sure there's a story involved with your...discovery."

Khairi enters the revel and looks around a bit for anyone he recognizes. As he does not spot anyone right away he decides on some food, drink and checks out the displays.
