Memo to all 4th Edition Designers and Developers

Do you mean evidence (and some speculation) that largely came from WOTC and has been compiled here: EN World 4e Page and can also be found here

Or actual discussion of mechanics and rules (to cite a few) like:

Critical Hits

Magic Item Slots

Death and Dying

Pit Fiend Stat Block

4e Miniatures Rule Book

Desrt of Desolation 4e Stat Cards

Also keep in mind that we are still months away from the release, we are holding back info for people to learn at about first at D&D Experience, and after that the amount we reveal will increase significantly because the books will be final.
I guess this is just not "cool enought" yet (except for the Pit Fiend and the Dying rules, I think) - at least for many - The coolest part would be a class write-up, I guess.

Ah, let's not kid ourselves here - the cool part can only be playing the game itself and seeing the stuff in action.

If you start treating a portion of your customer base (and yes, it's also "his" customer base as long as works for WoTC) in a haughty or condescending manner (even if you mean it as a joke) it's bad for the business.

It isn't "his customer base" if they already have decided to hate 4e anyway.

Also, I think it's worth the gamble of antagonizing 5% of potential customers to impress the remaining 95% that you just smacked the other 5% down.

To be honest, I've read all of those and more and I really didn't see anything "cool" about them. Some parts of the death and dying weren't too bad, and critical hits are tolerable, but calling them "cool" is a stretch. The pit fiend stat block in particular was very disappointing.

This is a personal opinion. I myself and my gaming group found the majority of these articles cool. And it is only rational to follow up articles with positive reinforcement. You can most certainly choose to ignore said reinforcement but there is nothing wrong with it being there. Being reactionary does not serve your judgement.

It's personal opinion, to me they're quite "cool."

I'm sorry you see things differently.

OK, I understand you haven't been wowed yet, that's fine.

Lot's of things I think are fetch, other people think are pretty wack.

Yes, that is what I am saying. I haven't been wowed yet. The best thing I've seen was the article on feats. Those feats looked useful and balanced ( the Golden Wyvern Adept name need to go), but not absolutely necessary. That's exactly what feats should be. I've seen lots of things the designers think are "cool", but I haven't seen anything that made me say "Hey. That's pretty cool!"

This is not at all surprising and is actually rather encouraging. I wish I could go to D&D Experience but as it is, I can expect to get a) lots of info vicariously from people who have gone and b) lots of info from WotC in March, April, and May. Sweet as!

I can hardly wait. Bring it on!
