It has come to my attention that some people say EN World like "N World" as opposed to "EE EN World". Now I'm curious about how wide spread this is.

Only the lazy people who were not born before Eric Noah hosted the 3rd Edition D&D News web site.

We old-timers would pronounced his initials, even though the website have changed ownership.

But you can't pronounce "IBM" - If it was International Business Olfactory Machines, then we could call it IBOM (eye-BOHM).

But you can't pronounce "IBM"

If it makes a difference, you can pronounce ibn. It is an arabic word. From ibn to ibm is not a leap of linguistics. So you can pronounce it. It's just clumsy to a native english speaker.
