Meta-game reason to NOT get spellcasting prodigy?

SCP is far from being unbalancing, 1 extra 1st level spell at 1st level, and a DC of 1 higher. It's nice, but it is not a gamebreaker. There is no reason for WotC to change it.
Yes there is. From the SRD:
Spell Focus [General]
Choose a school of magic.
Benefit: Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against spells from the school of magic you select.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new school of magic.
SCP provides an effect equivalent to that of eight 3.5 Spell Focus feats plus bonus spells, all in exchange for the relatively weak restriction that you can only take it at 1st level. Too good a feat, IMHO.

This argument is untenable. SCP is a much better feat than any spellcaster could choose at any level, even moreso in 3.5.

The only reason this feat should be left unchanged is because it truly does simulate being heads and tails above other casters, like a true prodigy would be. This reason would be purely for story and left in the hands of the DM to decide who should receive it.

Given their current track record, they will probably change SCP in the future edition of FRCS because as it currently is, it is too powerful for commonly allowed use. I think the majority of DM's would never allow the feat. WotC will turn it into something playable, rather than leave it as a story feat like Spellfire Wielder.
