Metal Gear movie?

Judging by photos I've found of David Hayter, he appears to not only be the voice of Solid Snake, but also the visual inspiration. I second his nomination for the role.

In the linked article, Kojima stated he'd rather see a MGS movie follow a different plot from the games. This disappoints me (the games are half-movies already!); however, I suppose one could still set a Metal Gear movie within the MGS canon without retreading any of the game's plot. Heck, one wouldn't even have to feature Solid Snake as the star (MGS2 didn't).

On a related note, I would pay money to see The Last Days of FOXHOUND: the Movie.

As much as I'd love to see a Metal Gear movie, that article linked to in the first post is over a year and a half old. The fact that we've heard nothing since then seems to indicate exactly where that project is going.

That said, I think David Hayter'd be really cool for the part. He's apparently the director for Marvel's Black Widow movie which supposedly releases later this year.

Honestly, regarding the Metal Gear plot, I've been hoping for ages for a Solid Snake game that didn't feature a Metal Gear of some sort in it. There is so much else that can be done with Snake and Foxhound, I personally get a bit tired of every plot having some kind of connection to the nuclear warhead carrying robot thingy.

There's a reason a lot of people were disappointed with that game
And I pity those people, for letting such a trivial detail ruin their enjoyment of a great game.

Cthulhudrew: doesn't Metal Gear Acid (the PSP game) not feature a Metal Gear?

I think you might be on to something, though. I'd be fun to see Snake post-Zanzibar Land, but pre-retirement, while he was still in FOXHOUND. Or perhaps following his and Otacon's exploits as Philanthropy. What I'd REALLY like to see would be a film rendition of the Outer Heaven incident (Metal Gear, the original NES game), but Kojima is probably adverse to such an idea.
