Metal Miniature Help

I don't know anything about painting miniatures or anything, but I just got my hands on lots of cool metal miniatures. A lot of them are painted and most of them have been primed (is that the term for coating them first with the gray paint?)

Is it possible to remove the paint and primer so they look nice & shiney like they do when they are brand new in the package?

What's the cheapest safest way to do this? Where would I buy the products?

Yes you can remove the paint by bathing the miniatures in some kind of fluid, whose name eludes me right now, but I'm sure someone can point that out (or you might find something by googling or asking in a gaming shop, especially one of those wargaming shops (GW, etc)). :)

Nail polish remover works well. Afterwards, wash them and make sure they're thoroughly dried before re-priming. But why would you want to remove primer?

Brake fluid, just keep any cats away from it - they will try to drink it.

Use a toothbrush to remove the reamining paint.

If the primer isn't too thick you can leave it on, you really want primed figures, the paint peels off with handling otherwise.

You can use Pinesol too. Soak them for a few days and then use a toothbrush or any other bristled brush to get what's left off of them.

Use the same technique with Simple Green.

And get over to Reapermini.com

Good forums for minis discussions.

PS

Oh i'm not interested in painting them. I just don't have time, and I probably wouldn't do a good job. So I'd rather them all just be the nice shiney metal color instead of having some that aren't primed and some that are primed and dull looking.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out reapermini.com too for more ideas.
