Metal minis

This is pure speculation on my part, but I sense that Reaper may be in financial difficulty. They had a bad security break-in on their online store (which must have had significant costs) and now I've noticed they jacked up their prices by as much as 33%! Mini packs that used to cost $8.99 are now $12.99!!! Plus that's the 2nd or 3rd price increase in the past year. Ridiculous. I've taken my shopping elsewhere.

That's too bad. Reaper minis are the best metal minis by far, IMO.

From what has been discussed on Reapers boards and elsewhere, the reason for the price increases lately are due to the increase in the cost of the raw metal used to make the minis, which has been steadily rising for a few years now. For several years Reaper has not had a price increase, and was making some of the best minis available. I don't mind the price incease at all, they are still cheaper than most of the competition, and still better than 90% of the other companies out there. Single minis went from $2.99 to $3.99. I've got no problem at all paying $1 more for them.

Yep- that's about what I heard as well regarding the price increase.

I know there is a Legend of the 5 rings/Rokugan line out right now, I believe from Reaper.

I also dig the Confrontation minis, but mostly for just a couple of lines. Iron Claw, Iron Wind, Forsaken, WarGods, Hundred Kingdoms, and Warmachine have also found their way into my collection- all are metal.

I never had a problem with New Wave Games, but anything is possible. Still, check out their site for a LIST of metal minis, at least.

Hmm, I'll have to look again. Last I looked there wasn't that much online. Look harder I suppose!!!

More specifically, the price of raw tin ( a major pewter component ) has DOUBLED in price in the last YEAR alone ( from what I understand, China and Thailand have increased their own use and are exporting less ) , so I'm sure Reaper is not the only one facing this issue.
