Except for the fact that you can't have a "quickening" metamagic rod actually work, I would agree that this would be a reasonable assumption.
What do you mean here?

Using a metamagic feat on a spell makes casting a spell at least a full round action. To apply the quicken spell feat "spontaneously" doesn't work at all, as you have to take a full round action to cast the spell in the first place...

Sorcerers thus can't use quicken spell at all. There is explicit language pointing out this deficency in the ELH description of the sorcerer class when referring to a sorcerer taking the "Automatic Quicken" feats (I think). It might be elsewhere in the ELH

Come on Rystil, no one actually listens to an OPs requests about what people should say in the thread. Heck, most of the time you're lucky if they even read anything other than the poll before posting.

Let's not derail this thread with a debate of interpretations, please.

That makes sense.

Could you make a post that says which use you mean for this poll? If there are different interpretations then saying which the poll is for would probably be good.

I said it in the first post and asked people to read it at the top of the poll ;)

I know, but I'm serious that I don't want to start another one of those debates here. Much as in the rules forum we usually don't care what WotC thinks the item does as long as the RAW is satisfied, in this case, I'm asking about the utility of the items vis-a-vis their price for pricing precedent of further items that do ridiculous things X/day, for which WotC's opinion of what the item does is critically important.

I think for the most part they are priced appropriately, based on that use. Our group plays that way, and I'm playing a level 14 wizard. We also have a pixie arcane trickster in the group. The fact is we just don't have the time to commission buckets of rods from one of the two NPCs we've encountered with Craft Rod. That is the bigger factor for us really.

Between us we have one rod of lesser silent which we found, three rods of lesser extend (usually used for casting false life or greater magic weapon the night before, to free up slots the next day), and one lesser maximize. The lesser maximize at this point just makes it to my fireballs and lightning bolts don't feel completely wasted against bigger creatures who are pretty much guaranteed to make the save.

If they couldn't break the caster's level cap (i.e. allowing maximized time stop at 17th) they would be fine.

As is broken at any price or with any drawback.
