The eladrin movement ability, could be something that's based on the alternate form abilities all the celestial eladrin have. Something like becoming a ball of light as part of one rounds movement.
I hope not, 'cause the first thing that would happen to my characters is that they'd get co-opted as a light source...

And I do think this largely rules out Drow (works for me!). I'm hoping for some kind of Draconic People...

Told us what exactly? Warlocks dont have to have infernal pacts? WOTC already told us that?
I suggested that her earlier "infernal, naturally" comment was intended to poke fun at the crowd who are wailing and gnashing their teeth at the suggestion that infernal warlocks be an option for player characters. Her revisiting of the comment with additional chortling confirms it.

The race is described as being distracted by shiny things.

Clearly, this Balasar guy is from an empire of kender.

;)

Definitely Goblin then, weren't they the ones being described in 2e as easily distracted by valuables?

The comment about monsters wanting to attack her paladin over the wizard implies the paladin does have some sort of aggro-drawing ability.
Willing to bet it's like the Knight's "Yo, everybody attack meeee this round!" trick.

They did say that the Fighter and Paladin killed the Knight and took his stuff.
