Midnight: First Impressions of Campaign Book

Just picked this up the other day... haven't gotten to read as much of it as I would have liked to, but I've done massive amounts of skimming. And all I can say is HOLY FRELL! This book is so freaking cool! This is what D&D needed: a new dark setting. I felt that the 3e Ravenloft books were a little too White Wolf-y (read: angsty and goth, not dark and gothIC) for my tast, but Midnight has the mood just right. It's been a while since a new game came along and made me completely rewrite the "list of games I want to run next," but Midnight did just that. Absolutely incredible. So, when's the next book for this game due out?

Against the Shadow, a 128-page player's companion for Midnight, is at the printer and should be out in a couple weeks.

Crown of Shadow, a 64-page adventure/sourcebook, is just waiting on its cover art. It should be out in a month or so.

Minions of Shadow, a 64-page villain/monster book, will be out around GenCon.

Thanks!

More Midnight! *cackles heinously* More, more MORE!

I've even got my CD 'play list' set out for it, since it worked so well while reading it. Both LotR movie soundtracks and two David Arkenstone CDs (Songs Inspired by Middle Earth, and Quest of the Dream Warrior).

One book I picked up with an eye to maybe incorporating some elements into Midnight from it was "Heroes of High Favor: Elves". The description of the Ley Lines attached to Nexuses sounds like it might be portable to Midnight depending on how it's done. I'll report any findings. :)

I am patiently awaiting tomorrow. I had to special order it at my game store. They "don't like to carry campaign settings"
I am getting excited by everything I read.
Can't wait to get...my precious :]

please keep us posted when the next "Midnight" books are about to hit the stores. My local stores are not good at stocking a lot of non WotC stuff in their stores. I would like to make sure they order it from their distributor.

My DM picked up the book and loves it. Says that when he gets back on his feet (major surgery soon), his next campaign is in Midnight.

Heya Jeff,

The guys at FFG said the next book Agaisnt the Shadow (can't wait)is at the printers and should be out in a couple weeks..and if you can make it to the creater Hartford area there are a few good FLGS around here like War and Pieces in West Hartford or The Time Machine and The Grid in Manchester, all have huge selections.

Velik/Heath,

I'm right in the area, but I have noticed an inconsistency with books that get carried by local gaming stores - i.e., I had to order "Fury in the Wastelands..." directly from Kenzer, but they had the Kalamar Atlas right away.

Don't get out to Manchester too often, though. I tend to stick with War & Pieces and Dragon's Lair, as I am minutes from both stores... or I get stuff through a friend at Clockwork down in Orange

I haven't got the book yet, but checked out the preview pdf. Am I right in assuming that the "Ironblooded" path gives a barbarian a d20 hit die?

This reminds me of Dark Sun a bit -- more powerful PCs, but a MUCH nastier world.

This bears looking into...if only I can get the money...
