Midnite Blade Student (MOD), -1 Reflex Weapons

Magidex

First Post
Midnite Blade Student
(fighting style)
Prereq: Fighter, Ranger, Rogue
Weapons: Any melee light blade
Benefit: You gain +2 to Acrobatics
When you use a power associated with this feat, you may target Reflex instead of AC.
Powers associated: Dual Strike (fighter, mp), gloaming cut (rogue, mp2), or throw and stab (ranger, mp2)

My mod is as follows: Replace throw and stab with the ranger power twin strike (phb).

Plus, Dessicating/Withering weapons (A.V., lvl 13+), reduce Fortitude/AC (respectively) by 1 each time you hit; penalty is cumulative, target can save against the effect, but you can incur it again with successive attacks.
There isn't one for Reflex. I looked. So I'm gonna invent one.
What's a good name for a weapon that reduced Ref by 1 per hit? Slowing?

I think unbalancing is better, and yeah, I totally forgot that slowed means speed of 2.

No comments on having twin strike target Reflex for both of the attacks?

Nope, I see no problem if you're using a feat to do it with the one attack. Rogues get a feat higher up that let all their ac attacks target ref.

No, that's Deft Blade, from martial power 2, the prerequisite is "11th level, any martial class" and it allows melee basic attacks (only) to target Ref 100% of the time. Not powers. And Rogues generally suck at melee basic unless they have Melee Training.

Alright, well, it can't be an official character then, but my DM okay'd it today. Whee.

I stand corrected. Still, allowing it for twin strike wouldn't be too bad, if it's allowed for the fighter's dual strike, imo. Glad your DM approved

Allowing Twin Strike to target Reflex is... giving a significant bonus to the most powerful at-will in the game. There's a reason *no* Style feats affect Twin Strike.

Dual Strike is very different from Twin Strike because you can't focus fire with it.

Also many rogues (Brutal Scoundrels) have great basic attacks.

I don't understand Brutal Rogues. It takes 14 Str to be ANY good, and every point you invest in Str means a lower Con all around. If you take backstabber at lvl 1 and you're NOT human...

piercing strike is (With light blade/short sword) +7 vs Ref, and you deal...

1d6 (+2d8 + 2 with combat advantage) + 4 (dex)
5-10 w/o CA
9-28 w/ CA

Actually... I never sat down and did the math before. Crap. Oh well, Artful Dodger could have you gaining +7 AC against OAs if you're halfling, go with 18 dex and 16 cha, and take defensive mobility.

(On that note: Player-vs.-character knowledge that moving away on purpose will cause them to miss their OA 90% of the time, therefore granting you CA??)

This feat from MP2 should shape that decision:

Opportunity Knocks (HEROIC!? FULLY obsoletes the epic feat that does only half what this does in MP1)
Prerequisite: Rogue
Benefit: Whenever you hit with an OA, or are missed by an OA, you gain combat advantage against the enemy (you hit/that missed you) until the end of your next turn.
