Mighty Bows greater than +4

it just isn't possible

+4 is a pretty powerful bow, it just wouldn't make sense for it to go higher.

If you wanted it any higher, this is what I would do.
The Japanese bows that use a special martial arts to learn how to use them, I'm not sure what its called. In history, a Japanese General with his bow (which took 12 men to string) sunk two boats with one shot.

I'd make the bow an exotic weapon, dealing 1d10 damage, and going up to +6 str bonus. It couldn't be used from a mount PERIOD, unless you're huge or something. There is no composite form, and it has a range increment of 150 or 170 or something. It costs a lot, and you have to make a str check to string it.

This seems a bit powerful, but anyone else have some ideas?

Either make a magical +1 equivilent that adds to it, Or make the bow Huge.

That's what I did for my Horned Sniper, Minotaur DWS.

Why couldn't you just turn the bow sideways a tad? It doesn't have to be vertical does it?

These bows would be VERY cool for Giants. Screw bolders.

Is there any way to make a Mighty Composite Longbow +5 or higher within the official rules?

There is a magical bow in The Book of Eldritch Might II called the Bow of the Gray Marches. It self adjusts to the pull of it's wielder, functioning as a mighty bow up to +10. It costs 12,375gp (the price was increased with errata).

It's a +2 bow. The +2 enhancement is 8,000gp, so, yank that out. We get 4,375gp. Yank out the cost of a masterwork composite longbow, 400gp, and you have 3,965gp for the +10 mighty thingymabopper. Now, I have this funny feeling though, that Monte mistakenly calculated the cost of a masterwork composite longbow as a masterwork longbow. Just look at the price after removing the +2 enhancement and you'll see what I mean. :)

Have you ever tried to fire a bow horizontally? No matter where you place it, the string is either hovering Above or Below your arm. Thus, you're highly more likely to thrash your arm with the bow-string's snap.

That, and you'll just end up popping the kids.

Logically, just make it bigger. A mighty short comp bow topps out at +2, the long version (large instead of medium) at +4. Presumably a Huge one could go higher.

Wow. I play an Archer, I know just how deadly archery can be even with the +4 limitation.

I'd be really hesitant to add this one into my campaign.

But IIRC, Kai Lord already plays a PA so I guess this can't be any worse, really ;)
