D&D General Millennial D&D (+)

Which is interesting because each generation’s culture is heavily influenced by media created by artists from the generation before it.
Right. But art is generally created by the rebellious of the generation. Those with something to say. Usually about the world. And usually negative. Had this same conversation with my kid after watching Pump Up The Volume.

I think every generation, full of piss and vinegar, thinks that about the older generations, whose backs hurt and are focused on trying to keep their crappy mid-level jobs.
Also every generation tells themselves when they’re young and hated by the older generations that they’re going to be kinder to the next generation. And then always end up being just as critical to the next generation when the time actually comes.

Yup. Their time will come to complain about kids these days, with their stupid hair, wrong values, and lousy work ethic. For millennials, that time is coming fast.

Notice that WotC is trying to preempt that by getting out of the editions business. Instead, they want to just sneakily update the game every few years so it always reflects the current status quo. This may rob old millennials of one of the favourite grognard pastimes: endlessly explaining why our version of the game was so much better.
