When I'm not playing D&D, I play Warhammer 40k. I order most of my stuff from Neal at The War Store. The first time I ordered from him he only shipped half my order. I e-mailed him and he shipped the rest NEXT DAY! Neal is known for great customer service. Everything else I've ordered from him got to me quickly and with the right stuff!

Sometimes Neal does not have the prices that other places have. Hobbyworkshop.com is a good example of an online retailer that has competative prices and decent support. I order from them when they are cheaper than thewarstore.net.

I ended up checking out dragglestown which has much better service, and then of course for the stuff I cant wait for Games Plus is the place.

I have had zero problems with Discount Hobby aka Dragglestown in all the times I've dealt with them. I highly recommend them if you can't, or won't, deal with your local store. You can get their either by www.discounthobby.com or www.dragglestown.com

I've used the Warstore numerous times, and its wonderful. I get an email response right away, and prompt shipping, all my emails are quickly answered.

I've used Hobbyworkshop twice, they shipped the instock sutff pretty much immediately and I got the Gamesworkshop bitz in a few weeks (which is what they said up front).

I think either is a good choice to go with.

Do not under any circumstances order from New Wave.
A friend placed an order for about $300 worth of minis. He got billed up front and only got about $80 worth. He tried calling constantly for three weeks, never getting a live person, never getting replies to his emails. He then disputed the charge with his credit card company, and once they creditied him the money back, New Wave called him the next day. They promise great discounts, but its not worth it when you never get your stuff, and have to put up with massive aggravation.

I really never heard that these guys had such customer service and shipping issues. I origionally posted this thread because I was looking at their site and they had some pretty good prices.
I'm sorry if I've brought up any painfull memories. thanks to everyone who has posted alturnate mini sources. you can never have too many good sources for fresh lead.

New Wave

New wave was cool the first time i ordered but everytime since (3 times now) they have been backordered.
The last time they charged my account and never sent me my product and never answered my e-mails. Only out $34
but it is the principle i guess. I now go with:

They have the same stuff as new wave and I have not had a problem with them in over 6 months of ordering from them.
Your best bet is to try to get your local hobby shop to order figs for ya.

the problem arises when non standard figures are the ones you want ie: confrontation (and the sale at new wave on these was a buck or 2 off) for $8-$10 figures that adds up rather quickly - but as has already been said you have to actually get the order for the savings to matter.

Aye, I'm checking out the stores and none give as large a discount as New Wave ... tempting, but must stay away, New Wave evil, evil!

Unless you are buying huge amount of figs at once, the difference in discounts does not add up to much.

New Wave is pathetic. I'd ordered from them a lot 2 years ago, and refuse to order from them ever again. I even had to go so far as reporting them to the better business bureau... And even then, I still haven't seen that WOTC black dragon model/mini. And it's been well over 15 months now. Not to mention they flat out refuse to refund my money, and love to charge more for shipping when they partial ship.

My personal recommendation, as well as the recommendation of another member of my role-playing group? Never, under any circumstances, order from New Wave. They may be tempting, but the discount isn't as good as you think, unless you order a ton, and even then, the odds of that order being both correct and ultimately, timely, is nil.

They're a bad business, one I hope shapes up or ships out.
