Am I just old?

I don't think I've even paid US$7 to $9 for a 25mm/28mm mini before. I mean the detail on these guys is great, but this is a mini that is likely to get banged up on the table eventually if it is a PC, or only make a few appearances per year if an NPC.

At my FLGS I find myself pausing at the $3 to $4 minis that I guess are "lower quality" like Reaper, but look a lot more useful to me.

Boy do I sound like an old fart.

Seriously though, do you guys buy these kind of minis at US$17 for your villains?

Very, very important: if you are clearly being ripped off (for example in the US it is illegal for order fulfillment -- including shipping -- to take more than 6 weeks unless it's a pre-order situation) and your card has been charged, please immediately contact your credit card company and have them cancel the charge. They'll do it without a second's hesitation.

This will do two things: it will drive the thieves out of business, and if there are sufficient chargebacks then the store's bank will no longer allow them to accept credit cards.

Poof, thieves are magically out of business.

Whatever you do, please don't just accept being ripped off, as that allows them to rip more people off.

Well, that Minotaur is a pretty big model; even going with Reaper Minotaur (which is fine) will probably cost $8-10 because of the size. The question comes down to whether I really like the figure. So, yes, I'd rather pay $18 for a Minotaur I thought was incredible than $8 for one I thought was just good.
