As for words: I'd rather be told I'm using a word incorrectly, rather than being allowed to continue to make a fool of myself.

And when I'm wrong, I'd say: "Huh, you're right. I did not know that." (rather than "Well, I meant to say it that way" or some such deflection). ...kinda the same response I give when it's been pointed out to me I'm using a rule incorrectly. I may get a brused ego occasionally ("schooled" is the correct term, I think :D), but it's a passing thing.

The rules forum is the place to go and get advice on how to use rules....among other things. ;)

If I am reading your message right, you just accused me of both using the word incorrectly and then attempting to save face?

If so, you have me so very wrong, but to each their own I guess.

As you can see from the other thread, I'm not the only one who uses 'penultimate' to mean 'almost the greatest'.

At any rate, I don't mind being called out on a word here or there, but the silliness this turned in to was excessive at best.
