Mithral Buckler Weight?

How much would a Mithral Buckler weigh since the SRD states that the half weight only applys to nonarmor and nonshields?

why that's in there I don't know, cuz if you look at all the mithral items in the DMG they are ALL 1/2weight ...

so your mitrhal buckler is going to weigh 2.5 lbs, 0 ACP, 0 ASF and give you +1 AC

note: you still suffer a -1 to attk rolls with your off hand weapon, if you use two weapons.

wait...

In my DMG, NONE of the armor items are half original weight, they are all less than half. Mithral shirt is listed in DMG at 10 lbs, standard is 25. Lg mithral shield is 5 lbs in the DMG, but 15 standard.

This still doesn't explain why the SRD and DMG make no mention of mithral altering the weight of armor and shield items.

Hey WotC, what gives??

I think they rounded it down to a multiply of 5 for simplicity. That would make a mithril buckler 0 lbs... I think 2 is just good.

none???

not even dwarven plate/ elven chain???

[edit: I agree, they were just probably trying to avoid .5 weights ... what I don't know is why they just didn't make it 7 pounds? ... (not a multiple of 5?)

Oops, forgot about those two. Yes, those are correct. I just read a post by trentonjoe in another thread that mithral is listed as weighing half as much as steel (generally) in Magic of Faerun.

I think this rounding to the nearest 5 is a bit silly, I'm sure we can handle 12 pounds or 7 pounds. So I would say a buckler would weigh 2.

lol!!!

I don't know dude, 7 pounds??? are you out of your mind ... I mean I can handle 5+5=10 ... 5+7=12?? 12??? what kind of number is that???

I mean what's next ... algebra?

sheesh A.S.M.D ... should always be by 5's! (adding>dividing) ;)
