I don't think you're going to find a negative word about Spirited Away, Ash. Maybe I'm wrong, but I loved this movie, as has everyone else who's posted.

All right, you might find one negative word- the blood was a little freaky. The negative word being freaky. But... I just watched that movie and its sooooooooo good. I liked princess mononoke a little better, mostly because Spirited Away seems like a kids story, whereas Princess Mononoke seems a little more adult- all that violence and gore and freaky goop.

It was awesome, really strong on the fairy-tale feel (like Labyrinth was). I've owned the DVD for a couple of months now, and I've only actually had it for about a week because of all the people keen to borrow it.

Saw it. Loved it. Bought it. Miyazaki's best, IMO.

If anyone I know starts talking about such-and-such movie was the best animated movie they've ever seen, I ask them if they have seen "Spirted Away." If they say no, I tell them to shut up until they've seen it.

If they say they have seen it, I tell them they are lying, because if they had seen it, they would be saying it was the best animated movie they've ever seen.

It's a great film. We just watched it again on DVD a few weeks ago and it still retains all the magic it did when we first saw it.

...and I am not totally sure what is going on...

Was there a particular plot point that wasn't clear to you or are you just feeling that the movie is different than a lot of other stuff out there right now? If it's a plot thing I'm sure people here will have interpretations; if you just found it different, well, that's part of what makes it so cool.

Agreed, I even have the hacked up Warriors of the Wind version, it's so dear to me.

I'm definately miffed that I cannot find a copy of Nausicaa for region 1 though.
