MM templated PCs in game

Ran a half-dragon in a 10th level group witha few scattered levels of sorcerer, bard and aristocrat. It worked out fairly balanced, but if I'd been single classed it would have gotten a little over the top. The Template is a boon to any class that doesn't involve running around in heavy armor (1st level half-dragon wizard can set up +8 to AC with natural armor and mage armor, and still weild a weapon as effectively as a high strenght fighter for a time).

The biggest problem was the fact that the classes didn't seem to matter. The entire game, my class was "dragon." It overshadowed all of the other abilities because of the level hit.

I think the best solution is to convert the templates into prestige races like those found in Oathbound. That way the character gets abilities apporpiate for his level and doesn't take a huge hit at first level.

I second the prestige races idea. It wouldnt be that hard really, just seperate the stat bounuses and other abilities up into roughly equal segments, adjusting for level of course, and it should work out fine. I love the idea of prestige races, quite frankly it is my favorite "crunchy bit" out of oathbound. The in game explanation could be that a persons draconic/celestial/fiendish heretige dosent begin to show until early adulthood or puberty, think x-men type mutations. The reasons for this could be that if the person had all of these attributes at birth (fiendish claws/horns, draconic size and scales) the birthing would be... messy to say the least. Perhaps it is a survival mechanism.
