Modern Miniatures

Look at model railroad figures for pedestrians, regular police officers, construction workers, etc. The O scale figures might be a bit small for use with 28mm minis, but you can justify the size difference by the fact that the PC's minis should look larger and more 'heroic'.

Or you can use HO scale model railroad figures with HO (1/72 scale) plastic soldiers (from Airfix, etc). The good thing about these are that you can use many of the HO-1/72 scale military vehicle kits as well as model railroad scenery. The downside is that there aren't as many HO scale modern military figures as there are in 28mm.

I am very fond of the new modern minis from RAFM. I don't think there are better modern minis on the market right now. The line is young though, so there's not a lot of variety at the moment.

That miniature needs a little button at the bottom that you push and it says, "Are you crazy, is that your problem?"

Or perhaps, "It's all in the reflexes..."

I have some of the old Mark Copplestone minis from when he was apparently working for FASA's Shadowrun line. I wish they were selling his Future Wars line here in the U.S. I'm not even sure how you'd order from his website as an international customer.

I actually placed an order Wednesday on the Copplestone website. A little research showed that there's a CON in Pennsylvania this summer where a couple from one of the midwest states will be showing his work.

So, I'm assuming he can ship to the States. Hopefully, he does. If not, I'm sure I'll receive an email about it...sometime.

I'll keep you all informed.

He can, no question -- and at least last year, the exchange rate was such that it was cheaper to order directly from him than it was to purchase from the US distributor.

But, as you mentioned, that US distributor -- RLBPS, or something like that -- does come to Historicon in Lancaster PA. Along with a ton of other companies, many of whom also carry moderns. It's mainly a historical miniatures show, but there's a lot of fantasy and SF available as well.

Thanks Rolzup for the reassurance! I still might try to get out to the Con, if possible. But I'm notorious for having real life interrupt and delay my convention plans. :\

I received my minis today. Not bad at all since I ordered last Wednesday. Less than a week to package and ship overseas. :D
