Monk Flurry stack with BAB extra attacks?

Does the monk's flurry of blows ability stack with the extra attacks gained from a high BAB?

Yes... as long as you're using the textual description of Flurry of Blows, and not the table.

In other words, a Mnk8 doesn't get five attacks - BAB +6/+1 and FoB +5/+5/+0.

But a Mnk8/Ftr5 gets four attacks at +10/+10/+5/+0.

-Hyp.

I assume you mean multiclassing, e.g. Fighter 4 / Monk 16.

Sure. If you use flurry, simply use the respective BAB table for Flurry of Blows +12/+12/+12/+7/+2 and add the 4 points for the four fighter levels.

Result: +16/+16/+16/+11/+6/+1. Yihaa.

Yes, for a multiclassed monk. Thanks!

I'm building a variant monk as a non-lawful "streetfighter/gladiator" type character specialized in hand crossbows as well as martial arts. We're letting him use his crossbows with his flurry, counting them as special monk weapons. Then we used the highwaymen core class from swashbuckling adventures (swapping out firearms specialty for crossbows) so he gets his dex mod as a damage bonus to crossbow fire. Then using variant monk rules from Dragon mag and Quintessential Monk, most importantly gives him the Hunter Monk option (ranger's favored enemy: humans) at the expense of slow fall, delayed unarmed damage increase (1 level off) and no first level monk feat. So he's fast, stealthy, but able to whoop ass toe to toe, but especially ranged. I built him based on the Tetragrammaton Cleric "gun-fu" in the movie EQUILIBRIUM, and a dose of John Woo hong Kong two-fisted gun movies. Makes for a unique D&D fantasy character. This guy would be the ultimate nightmare henchman for a villain, just give him some slippers of spider climbing and poison! ;)

Hah, Hyp won initiative ;)

Dex bonus on Damage with ranged attacks? Woah. That's some nice damage.

Yeah, I found these dart throwers in Path of the Sword, that do 2d4 damage, hold six darts, and only cause a -2 penalty to fire both darts at once at the same target (hence the 2d4 damage), though you have the option of only firing one dart at no penalty. So, my guy with an 18 Dex and Favored Enemy: Humans, would now do 2d4+6 points of damage. He wields one dart thrower in each hand, so with flurry and weapon penalties, he's -4 to hit but can dish out up to 4d4+12 damage each round for three rounds until he runs out of darts and has to change clips, at which point either everybody is dead or he just kicks 'em to death. ;) Kind of a non-magical artillery piece, but the range is only 30 feet.

How can crossbows be special monk weapons? It doesn't make sense to me. One, I cannot imagine how one could trade off between fist and crossbow and foot when executing, say, a 5-attack flurry. Second, crossbows have firing mechanisms and must be reloaded. They work very differently from monks' special weapons, which can function essentially as extensions of the monk's own body and are ready for use at any time.

I think you're just trying to get good two-weapon fighting without all the feats.
