Monk/Psychic Warrior

Folks,

In my campaign a character is being made up which is a monk/psychic warrior.

My question is if the character uses claws of the vampire can he use his various monk open hand bonuses and abilities?

I do not think they would as a claw attack is different from an open hand attack.

Also would the new Metaphysical feats (that TSR put up on their web site) work in conjunction with claws of the vampire.

I think they would as your fingernails become the claws.

I think this character should be able to use most of the monk abilities while fighting with the claws, a claw is just another form of fighting unarmed.

I haven't seen the feats yet

Even more than that-he referred to the monk's unarmed attacks as 'open hand'. Rip van Winkle here's been asleep since 1st Edition AD&D.
