I totally don't need it. I have monster books coming out of my ears:
  • Monster Manual 3e
  • Monster Manual 3.5
  • Monster Manual 2
  • Fiend Folio
  • Monsternomicon
  • Book of Fiends
  • Legacy of Dragons
  • Creatures of Rokugan
  • Beasts of Norrath
  • Oriental Aventures (not a monster book, but has a lot of monsters)
  • Creature Collection
  • Creature Collection 2
  • Tome of Horrors
  • Call of Cthulhu (also not a monster book, but I use a lot of monsters from this)
  • gosh, probably half a dozen more I'm not thinking of right at the moment.
However, I also have a strange fetish for monster books. Oddly enough, I usually use classed humanoids as adversaries, not monsters, but I still really want this one, Creature Collection 3 and Creatures of Freeport.
Surrender.

Just go get it and get it over with, you know you want to.

You'll feel better.

Yeah, I'll pick it up. I'm a sucker for monster books, even though I don't use most of the ones I have. I enjoy reading them and thinking of ways to use the new monsters, even if I don't actually get around to using them in a game.

My thoughts exactly. I like reading about them as much as using them.

I know what you feel.
  • Monster Manual (3e)
  • Monster Manual 2
  • Manuel des Monstres (3.5, French version of I'll-let-you-guess-what)
  • Fiend Folio
  • Creature Collection
  • Creature Collection 2
  • Creature Collection 3 (x2)
  • Tome of Horrors
  • Tome of Horrors 2

And that's without listing all the books with a secondary monster content, like OA, MotP, Draconomicon, BoVD... I'll probably get Legacy of the Dragons, eventually. And I know I'll get MM3, and maybe even ToH3, and MM4... (Oh, and CC4, too.)

I don't have many 3rd party monster books (the only one I have is ToH, and I barely use it,) I'm a sucker for new monsters, and never seem to really have enough. I have MM 3.0+3.5, MM 2, Fiend Folio, and I'll either buy this one or ask for it for Christmas. And I still need to make up my own monsters a regular basis!

Lately, I've run two kinds of campaigns:

1. Extremely low-magic with almost all classed NPCs as foes, with a few magical beasts, homebrew outsiders and templated undead thrown in.

2. Epic Technomagic with almost all classed NPCs, homebrew constructs and homebrew aberrations.

So, logically, I would have no use for MM3 and a legion of other monster books.

Logic has nothing to do with it. :D

Monster books are and always will be my favorite gaming books to read and write. I still have every single 2e monster manual of the binder sheets variety, and mind you that I almost never played 2e at all.

Don't those two phrases seem to be in direct opposition to each other? ;)

Yes. Not because I want it, but because I am a consumer whore who buys every piece of schlock produced.
